AFCON 2021 qualifiers wrap

Sao Tome and Principe took a giant step towards the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations group stage qualifiers after beating fellow Mauritius 3-1 in the first-leg clash on Wednesday afternoon at Anjalay Stadium.

The second-leg tie is set to take place on Sunday evening in São Tomé, where the winner will qualify for the 2021 Afcon qualifiers group stages and will slot in to Group C, alongside South Africa, Ghana and Sudan.

South Sudan 2-1 Seychelles

South Sudan edged Seychelles 2-1 in the first-leg clash on Wednesday afternoon in Omdurman.

The second-leg will be played on Sunday afternoon at Stade Linite, where Seychelles will be hoping to turn the tables and qualify for the group phase of the qualifiers.

The winner will join Burkina Faso, Uganda and Malawi in Group B of the qualifiers.

Djibouti 1-1 Gambia

Djibouti and Gambia played to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday evening at Stade El Hadj Hassan.

Djibouti broke the deadlock just after the hour-mark courtesy of an own goal from the visitors, but Gambia managed to equalise in second-half stoppage time.

The second-leg tie will take place on Sunday evening at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

Liberia 1-0 Chad

Liberia registered a 1-0 win over Chad in the first-leg tie on Wednesday evening at Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex.

Kpah Sherman netted the decisive goal for Liberia two minutes before the break, that will give them an advantage heading to the second-leg on Sunday afternoon.
