DP World has provided over 220 tonnes of food to support families across Africa during the holy month of Ramadan.
The drive, part of DP World Middle East and Africa’s commitment to community support, was launched in the Horn of Africa and is expected to benefit more than 3,000 families in Djibouti, Puntland, and Somaliland.
In partnership with the State Secretariat for National Solidarity and the Islamic Da’awa Society, 1,000 families in Djibouti were supplied with food provisions. Working with local municipalities, another 600 families in Bossaso, Puntland and more than 1,000 families in Berbera, Somaliland, were each provided with 25 kilograms of rice, sugar and flour, six litres of oil, pasta, and fava beans.
DP World Dakar, Senegal, supplied nine Quran schools with over 40 tonnes of food. The provisions included 21 tonnes of rice, eight tonnes of sugar, and over 4000 litres of edible oil amongst other food items, and supported more than 5,000 schoolchildren during Ramadan.
DP World Sokhna in Egypt provided families in the Suez governorate with 1,000 bags of food provisions, and DP World Djen Djen, Algeria, supplied 100 families in the isolated regions of Iraguen and Jijel.
DP World Middle East and Africa CEO Suhail Al Banna, said, "We are committed to supporting the communities where we operate and helping people living there.
